After-Dinner Rule {Fruits & Veggies}

“I can’t wait for you to try my new recipe. It was time-consuming, but it’s healthy and I know you all will love it.”

Several minutes later, “Mom, I’m done.”

“Why didn’t you eat?”

“Well, I’m not that hungry.”

Seconds pass, then, they’re in the fridge and searching through the pantry.

Sigh. I really hope I’m not the only mom who experiences this. They don’t eat dinner and then they’re hungry. Ugh.

A couple years ago, I had enough! I made up a new rule. We use it everyday and there are no exceptions.

Here it is –> You may only eat fruits & veggies after dinner. And, you can only drink water.

One particular night stands out because together they ate: 1/2 bag of mini carrots, 2 apples, 1 pint of tomatoes, celery, watermelon slices & banana. This is extreme so I made a mental note 🙂

This rule works for us!

Do you implement any “eating” rules? How do you ensure your kids are getting their daily dose of fresh fruits and veggies?
